Reasons can include glazes that have crackled where they weren’t supposed to, bald spots in glaze (called crawling), maybe a chip in the mug anywhere noticeable. All seconds sale items are discounted but they are all safe to use! I don’t sell anything not food safe! Prices and discounts vary depending on the flaw.
This is a 16oz wave mug. The flaw on this one is fairly obvious, and the glaze crawled a lot on the exterior, leaving areas without the glossy blue glaze. There is no glaze flaw on the interior, which means this is still totally food safe. I personally have a couple of these I use at home regularly (with the same glaze flaw). Super discounted though!
Size guide: While some variation can be expected with handmade items, the sizes generally are: 8oz mug is 3 inches tall, 3 inch diameter. 12oz mug is 3.5 inches tall, 3 inch diameter. 16oz mug is 4.5 inches tall 3.5 inch diameter.
